Introducing Julia Johnston
Julia is a recent graduate of the Ilam School of Fine Arts. Her roots are deeply engrained in damp soils of the West Coast, where she is currently living and working. Her ties with the community and landscape there are strong and have been an integral part of her photographic work so far. Julia is a storyteller and enjoys the authorship that comes with being involved in all components of the photobook. She is a seeker of human connection, individualism and ‘back-to-land’ idealists. She aims to understand what builds the fabric of a community – and to preserve local histories. Coast Roaders is her first photobook.
